About The Role***

We have a vacancy for a Domestic Assistant based at Herts & Essex PPP Health Services working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday with two shift patterns Shift 1 - 08:00 to 17:00 Shift 2 - 13:00 to 22:00

Your main aim will be to to provide a high-quality porter service, to patients, staff, and visitors, to undertake the safe transportation of patients, equipment, documentation etc. in an efficient manner.

Maintain a safe environment and equipment in accordance with the specification of the contract, be responsive to service needs as they arise and constantly seek to improve the productivity and quality of the service.

Undertake necessary duties to ensure the maintenance of an efficient portering service as directed by your helpdesk Operative/ Supervisor. These duties will be carried out both in patient, and non-patient environments.

All work must be undertaken in line with health, safety, security adhering to Company and Trust policies, procedures including infection control.

When required, you may also need to assist with the emergency and evacuation procedures and security situations in accordance with the Trust policy.

Porters may work in an environment where they could be exposed to sensitive circumstances.

Porters will be exposed to some unpleasant environmental conditions.

You must receive and provide general basic level communications with staff, patients, and visitors.

**You wi**ll**:

- The transportation delivery of patients, delivery of medical gases, specimens, post, linen, medical equipment, clinical and non-clinical waste, furniture, using appropriate methods of work as directed.
- Assist with the transfer of patients, in accordance with trust policy.
- Transferring deceased patients to the mortuary using the appropriate means of transport. This will include maternity areas and assisting with the coroner’s ambulance out of hours.
- Responsible for updating work schedules.
- Ensure the safe storage and maintenance of appropriate stock, medical gases and supplies to ensure that these are always available in the designated areas.
- Change of medical gases in departments and the manifold rooms, using appropriate methods of work and following BOC training.
- Ensure confidentiality, privacy and dignity is always maintained in accordance with the data protection act and in line with company and trust policy, where appropriate
