**Job summary**:
The Risk Assessment, Selection and Forecasting (RASAF) team is responsible for forecasting and selecting providers for inspections.

Higher Analytical Officers within the RASAF team usually specialise in one remit area: schools, further education and skills, early years, or social care.

As a Higher Analytical Officer you will develop expertise in the data for your remit area, develop the technical skills to extract, quality assure and analyse data appropriately; develop an understanding of the policy context; and deliver high quality outputs. Proficiency in Excel is required, both for analysis and inspection selection and experience in R, SQL or similar coding languages is advantageous, both for extraction of relevant data for analysis and for inspection forecasting purposes.

**Job description**:
The key responsibilities of the role are outlined below. However, this is an overview of the role and is not exhaustive. Ofsted reserves the right to assign other duties appropriate to the **B2 APT/HEO** grade as required.
- To be a reliable source of knowledge about data in the relevant remit area, including the systems in which it is held and how it is affected by policy changes.
- To contribute to the delivery of timely and accurate data which meets the needs of inspectors, the sector, and other audiences.
- To produce routine inspection selections that adhere to the published policies, putting in place robust quality assurance and sense checks to ensure accuracy.
- To maintain, update and quality assure a database pulling from a wide variety of data sources.
- To analyse patterns in our data and identify what they mean for the organisation and the sector, by providing appropriate insight and commentary.
- To contribute to processes, through producing data, tools and/or models, running these and checking results.
- To respond quickly and accurately to a range of internal and external data requests.
- To keep up to date with research in their area so that work is informed by the latest findings and outputs fit into the wider policy context.
