We are seeking a talented, organised and highly motivated individual to work as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Department Musculoskeletal Ageing Science at the University of Liverpool (UoL). You will work on research following the award of a Horserace betting levy Board funded project grant to establish an Equine Protein Atlas.

The analysis of tissue-specific expression at the protein level is vital for understanding equine health and disease. This project will provide for the first time an 'Equine Protein Atlas' creating a map of protein changes in tissues and biofluids in ageing. All protein expression data will be published on Expression Atlas a free and publicly available protein atlas portal. This database would provide an important source of information for numerous equine biomedical research projects, including biomarker discovery efforts and equine age-related disease studies for example tendon disease and osteoarthritis.

The principal investigator, Professor Mandy Peffers and has a specific interest in musculoskeletal ageing across species. You will carry out this project in the research group of Professor Mandy Peffers in the Department of Musculoskeletal Ageing Science, Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences (the University of Liverpool).

The post is funded for 30-months, full-time.

A PhD (or about to obtain) in extracellular matrix proteomics is required for this role.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto Grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
