Due to a regional research award within our International Public Health department, we have created an opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join us, supporting capacity strengthening into gender and intersectional inequities in antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The role will work in collaboration with partners in Bangladesh, Kanya, Ghana, Nepal and Zimbabwe.

The postholder will support the AMR programming of countries supported by the Fleming Fund. The Fleming Fund represents the UK Government’s investment into improving laboratory capacity for diagnosis and surveillance of anti-microbial resistance (AMR) in low-income countries where AMR has a disproportionate impact.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Leading on the design and implementation of research elements as part of a team and with the support of the Gender Equity Lead and Principal Investigator
- Working with partner institutions and communications partners, building a community of practice for gender and AMR
- Producing reports, papers and other documentation to communicate research findings to a wider audience, in collaboration with GEAR UP partner institutions
- Leading the development of academic papers for submission to high impact journals in collaboration with partner institutions in Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana, Nepal, Zimbabwe
- Leading the development of new research funding proposals and identifying funding opportunities for further research in this area
- Contributing to teaching and postgraduate research on social science methods, AMR and gender analysis
- Knowledge of health issues, services and systems in Low and Middle-Income countries (LMICs)
- Understanding of social determinants of health, and theories of intersectional inequity including gender, class, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation etc.
- Training at doctoral level (PDRA) in qualitative research methods, including study design, data collection, analysis and reporting
- Experience of working with research partners in LMICs, particularly within a multi-country research consortium model
- Experience of planning and designing research projects in LMICs, including research ethics submissions
- Familiarity with qualitative analysis software (e.g. Nvivo)
- Training in gender analysis in health and/or development
