The Role: As a Junior Lifestyle & Small Leather Goods Designer, you will work alongside the Designer and Head of Leather Goods to develop the women's and men's small leathergoods, mini bags and belts collection, as well as Lifestyle capsule ranges. You will work on the research and development to create new and progressive designs. Duties & Responsibilities**:Research**: - Carry out research as specified by Head of Leather Goods Design and Designer. - Display resourcefulness with a variety of research techniques including library and market research. - Seek out and identify interesting shapes / material/ treatment references which are relevant to the range aesthetics and brand codes **Design**: - Support the Designer with the development of ideas, details, construction, and components. - Sketch ideas further to present to Designer and Head of Leather Goods. - Experiment with different techniques and materials to push the creativityand to make the collections diverse. - Be confident at developing ideas 3-dimensionally and always looking to develop design ideas in more original and modern ways. - Push the collection to be as luxurious and innovative as possible whilst maintaining a trueMulberry aesthetic. **Responsibilities**: - Continuous research of ideas and ways of improving the product - Prepare for meetings with Head of Leather Goods and Merchandising - Put together tech packs for suppliers including sketches and scale1:1 drawing. - Ensure critical path is adhered to and keep on top of all key dates. - Communicate regularly with Designer with any ideas, issues, progress, delays etc. - Maintain archive of samples and hardware **Prototypes**: - Work with suppliers to ensure prototypes come in for planned fit meetings or proto reviews. **Specs**: - Work closely with production group to ensure product specs are accurate for target costings and production handover. - Produce accurate sketches / CADs updated after fits for production team. **Salesman Samples**: - Work with suppliers to ensure all salesman samples arrive in time for any deadlines. Brand: - Understand and demonstrate the Mulberry employee values and behaviours: Be Bold, Be Imaginative, Be Open, Be Responsible. - SupportMulberry to deliver an inclusive culture, through behaving in a way that is open-minded and respectful towards others, and understanding that your views, opinions and experiences may not always be shared by your colleagues. - Act as an ambassador for Mulberryand communicate positively about the brand. Skills & Experience Required: - Appropriate degree supported by a strong portfolio. - At least 2-3 years' experience in the industry (can include work experience / gap years). - 1 years' experience in a similar position.- Wide knowledge of leather goods universe. - Experience of working in a busy design studio organising and prioritising a demanding workload. - Strong research abilities, eye for design and details. - Flexible approach to working conditions. - Self-motivatedand able to carry out specific instructions. - Effective team player. - Ability to communicate ideas clearly both orally and visually. - Versatile in design skills and enthusiastic. - Fluent English. - Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and other appropriateCAD program. - Enthusiastic and passionate about fashion and leather goods. - Reliable and practical. Other: Some travel will be required.
