An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Wheelchair Budget Administrator to work in our well-established, dynamic wheelchair and Special Seating Service at Queen Mary’s Hospital Roehampton.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrator who enjoys working as part of a team and can demonstrate a commitment to delivering a high-quality administration service. A key element of this role is being able to work effectively with the Therapists, service users other members of the admin team, being able to multi-task and use your initiative. The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills together with strong interpersonal and IT skills. In addition, the post holder will need to be familiar with the Optimum System or other Wheelchair Service data bases and be proficient in the purchasing management systems used in St Georges Hospital.
- To carry out telephone assessments with service users for the provision of Transit wheelchairs and report back to clinician’s when more complex assessment is required.
- To manage the user pathway, ensuring that the entire process runs smoothly.
- Work in conjunction with Occupational Therapists regarding the provision of equipment.
- To order the correct equipment for the Service User and liaise with the Approved Repairer or the supplier to ensure that the equipment is delivered and receipted.
- To be aware of and report to the Business Support Manager on performance & targets relating to PWB’s

The Wheelchair Service provides a comprehensive service for people with permanent mobility problems and associated postural needs, with due regard to disability, environment, lifestyle and safety factors.

The service is responsible for assessing adults and children for provision of both manual and powered wheelchairs; associated seating to meet postural needs, and the wheelchair PWB scheme.

Once provision is established the wheelchair service will continue to evaluate the client’s needs and maintain the equipment provided.

There is an 'open access' service for clients, which can produce a high volume of contact by telephone and clients can contact the Therapists for information and advice directly, whenever necessary.

The Wheelchair Service is commissioned by the NHS Southwest London ICB and is based at Queen Mary’s Hospital. The majority of clients referred to the service are seen and assessed in their home environment by Therapists working alone. The environment of the client is variable, and at times Therapists may have to work in undesirable locations, or deal with challenging behaviour.
