Gynaecology commitments would include a gynaecology clinic and urogynaecology clinic with an alternate week urodynamics clinic. A weekly operating list is included in the job plan and where necessary support for operating development provided. This would be negotiated based on the skills of the applicant mapped to the requirements for the service. The urogynaecology services is supported by MDT meetings.

The post holder will have experience in Obstetrics and gynaecology with an interest in Urogynaecology. They may also have additional experience in other specialist areas to meet the needs of the department.

There is a well-established Specialist clinics including Fetal medicine, Rainbow Diabetes/Endocrine, and Maternal Medicine. These teams work closely with all the Consultant Obstetricians as well as our Anaesthetic and Intensive Care colleagues.

In gynaecology we provide services in benign gynaecology, early pregnancy, endometriosis, urogynaecology, ambulatory, menopause, vulval conditions and gynaecological oncology services.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has 19 Consultants and this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and dedicated team providing first class care to our patient population You will be joining a unit with up to 5000 deliveries per annum and will be expected to provide consultant level care to complex antenatal patients and offer a service for acute and elective Obstetrics.

Responsibilities of the post
- To provide high quality patient centre Consultant led obstetric and Gynaecology services.
- To undertake general duties associated with a post in Urogynaecology and support general gynaecology clinics and Gynaecology operating relevant to skills
- Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to offer expert opinion and considerate advice to women within Urogynae MDT.
- Support Gynae pathways as well as evolve and write, in line with Trust governance policies, pathways for patients seen within the Urogynaecology
- Work collaboratively with the Operational teams and clinical lead in delivering GIRFT pathways
- To be fully involved with the teaching and training of medical staff within the Department and to work closely with the RCOG College Tutor in this respect. To take part in the induction programme for junior medical staff and to participate in GP training. To participate in the teaching of medical students.
- To participate in the recruitment of junior medical staff.
- Ensure proper delegation to and training of junior medical and nursing staff.
- All consultants within the department share the responsibility for undertaking serious incident investigations. Experience in risk management would therefore be an advantage.
