**Training Area Operative**

Landmarc Support Services Ltd manage and maintain over 220,000 hectares of land across the United Kingdom on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (part of the Ministry of Defence). This land provides realistic and challenging terrain for military training and comprises some of the most important and remote landscapes in the country.

**An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Training Area Operative at Westdown, in the South West of England. The role will work outside on the Ranges, mainly rural and Training Area carrying out a variety of maintenance tasks on the Estate, these might include basic DIY, repairing targets, hand over and take back of the ranges from the Armed Forces.**

**This role is a standard Monday to Friday, permanent contract.**

This varied role will mainly operate outdoors on the rural defence training estate, with the following responsibilities:

- Maintenance of tracks, roadways, grass areas, hedges, tree plantations
- Preventative maintenance
- Grounds maintenance such as fencing, mowing, signage
- Forestry work such as crown lifting, removal of fallen trees,
- Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
- Driving and operating fleet vehicles
- To ensure that the Training Estate Facilities adhere to safe systems of work
- Liaise with stakeholders
- Use both IT and paper based systems to complete any relevant documentation

**What you can do**:

- Knowledge in Health and Safety such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessment and safe systems of work
- Have experience of working in a similar environment (desirable)
- Have a full driver’s license valid in the United Kingdom (essential)
- Ability to operate rural plant and machinery (desirable)
- Basic IT skills
- A “can do” attitude.
- Basic DIY skills
