Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our Deli wholesale team. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of our kitchen. The Job role will include basic prep, defrosting of items for our evening staff and preparation of our larger scale items. This job requires experience and will need to be able to follow a basic set off instruction given at the beginning of every shift.
Please note this is every Sunday and Wednesday -9-5pm totalling a minimum of 16hours a week, more hours are available to the right person.
**Duties**:
- Assist with food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the kitchen staff
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
- Follow food safety guidelines and ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients
- Assist with meal preparation for catering events or restaurant service
- Support the kitchen team with various tasks as needed
**Experience**:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is required
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from senior staff members
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field
**Skills**:
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Familiarity with basic food preparation techniques
- Interest in culinary arts and willingness to learn new cooking skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the kitchen team
