**As a Train Driver you will be involved in**:

- Maintaining operational competence and up-to-date route knowledge.
- Safely preparing, driving, and disposing of trains, adhering to safety standards.
- Ensuring prompt dispatch of trains, communicating effectively with teams.
- Identifying and managing emerging risks, maintaining flexibility in tasks.
- Providing accurate and timely information to passengers during disruptions.

To be considered for a Driver position you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

- Qualified Train Driver with necessary certifications.
- Personal Track Safety qualification.
- Good educational background with strong communication skills.
- Previous operational experience and knowledge of East Coast Mainline operations.

In addition to this, you'll play a key role in our business as we continue to drive improvements and deliver an even better experience for our Customers. It's a fantastic opportunity to become a Driver on the East Coast route, one of the most iconic stretches of railway in the UK and with this year marking the introduction of our Azuma fleet there has never been a more exciting time to join LNER

**What will you do?**
Joining LNER as Qualified Train Driver you'll be involved in the following:

- Delivering the highest standards of operational and occupational safety at all times.
- Preparing, driving and disposing of trains and traction units safely, ensuring the correct processes and procedures are followed.
- Ensuring all communication is carried out in accordance with industry and LNER standards.
- Ensuring the punctual running of LNER passenger services, working with the Train Manager, on board and station dispatch teams to ensure safe and prompt dispatch of trains.
- Maintaining the condition of LNER rolling stock whilst it is in service and reporting any defects and faults in accordance with the correct processes and procedures.
- Making any defective equipment safe on the train and liaising with the LNER **Service Delivery **team to ensure the safe working of trains.
- Ensuring you keep all route and traction knowledge up to date, notifying your line manager of any deficiencies.
- Ensuring all delays are reported using the appropriate process.
- Liaising with the LNER **Service Delivery **team to ensure effective management of delays attributed to train services.
- At times of disruption liaising with Train Manager and station teams to ensure passengers are provided with accurate and timely information.

**What training will be involved?**
If you're successful in the recruitment process we'll arrange for you to join us on one of our ‘Welcome To' weeks which gives you an overview of LNER as a business and what we're all about. This will be followed by a week of LNER rules specific training, traction training and finally route learning. In total this could take in excess of 6 months and overnight stays/lodging may be required away from Newcastle depot.
