We have an exciting new opportunity for an IPS Employment Advisor to join the Employment Services team. As an employment specialist, you will be working with people who have severe mental need to support them to gain/retain competitive paid employment in line with their preferences, using the IPS Evidence-based approach.

You will be based within NHS Trusts and work directly with all relevant stakeholders: the service user, Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), consultants, psychiatrists, and employers.

Key responsibilities will include:

- To support people who have experienced mental health problems to gain/retain paid employment using the IPS evidence-based approach, working within the NHS Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs).
- To support people at risk of losing their job or off sick to retain their employment (Job retention).
- To build relationship with employers to secure employment opportunities, and subsequently to provide ongoing support according to both the employee’s and the employer’s needs.
- To act as a champion to promote Employment support within the NHS
- To meet regularly with NHS staff and attend weekly MDT meetings to co-ordinate and integrate employment support into mental health treatment.
- Meet and exceed job outcome targets for service users.
- To implement the 8 Key principles the ‘Individual Placement and Support Model’ into all aspects of the service.
- Working directly with all relevant stakeholders: the service user, CMHT staff, consultant psychiatrists and employers, aiming to enable the majority of the service users on the caseload to gain and retain paid employment.
- Build relationships with clinical teams to generate referrals, create a collaborative working partnership with NHS clinicians and being responsible for service users who have been referred by NHS colleagues.
- Build a multi-disciplinary approach to the return to work. For example, involve clinical staff (where relevant) in managing symptoms at work, medication reviews and supporting rehabilitation needs.
- To prepare individuals for a return to work by supporting service users to understand their skills, aspirations and goals through vocational profiling/assessment and action planning.
- Source job opportunities for service users through tailored job search and regular contact with employers to secure employment opportunities.
- To provide education and support to employers, as agreed with the individual, which may include building relationship with employers, negotiating adjustments, return to work strategy and on-going contact with the employer to ensure job retention.
- Spend time getting to know local employers, to negotiate job opportunities that meet each individual’s strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
- To provide individualised support to service users once they have returned to work to assist them in sustaining employment.
- To work flexibly as required by the individual and the employer which may require some working out of normal office hours.
- To maintain a professional relationship with the service users of the programme and with staff, with particular attention to confidentiality and the maintenance of boundaries.
- To develop good working relationships with other organisations which provide vocational services and support that can provide specific opportunities to help individuals achieve their employment goals.
- To record information and data accurately, including numbers of job outcomes and records of contact made with employers.

1 Full time role: 36.5 hours per week

1 Part time role 15 hours per week

**Salary**: £25,000 - £27,200

This role is funded until March 2025
