**About the Role**:
This position will help drive IPS Adhesives safety by controlling HS&E programs and initiatives for Newcastle upon Tyne site. The HS&E Lead will support general duties including regulatory compliance, investigations, audits, and training.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide competent support, advice, and guidance on safety legislation and good practices to all levels of the business.
- Lead best practice of Health Safety and Environment controls and implementation of initiatives.
- Partner with the Leaders to ensure all activities have been adequately risk assessed, with safe systems of work being agreed.
- Oversee incident and near miss investigations, providing the necessary input to ensure that the true root cause is identified and appropriate preventative action(s) are put in place.
- Plan and undertake safety and environment process audits as per the established audit schedule
- Assist in the design and delivery of HSE training programs throughout the Company to ensure compliance against HSE standards, not limited to new hire orientation, compliance, COSHH
- Write and review internal health and safety documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education and Experience Requirements**
- Recognised health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH.
- Recognised environmental qualification such as NEBOSH or IEMA Environmental Certificate.
- Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or IEMA.
- Previous experience of working to internationally recognised standards including ISO 45001 and 14001.
- Proven track record of dealing with all the Health, Safety and Environmental issues relating to a manufacturing/industrial organisation. You will hold core skills such as effective risk assessment, COSHH assessment, accident/incident investigation and implementation of pro-active problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups
- Organisation and time management skills
- Continuous improvement approach to processes
