A well-recognised business based in Bolton are currently recruiting for a Head of Performance Improvement. Although the role is hybrid you will be required in the office at least two times per week. You will be responsible for the start-up and developmentof a process improvement function which will underpin the operations of the business.

The role is accountable for:

- Executing and maintaining a sustainable and scalable programme of process enhancements, controls improvements and waste elimination initiatives
- Implementing automation technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness
- Delivering service improvement across UK operations through performance improvement initiatives
- Delivering best practice performance improvement solutions
- Tracking delivery and performance of projects and managing corrective action where necessary
- Alignment of pipeline and workload to ensure consistency with the priorities of the Head of Finance Services.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of a range of performance improvement initiatives in order to support the activities of the business, drawing on:

- Knowledge and understanding of the operational risks, concerns, and commitments of the functional pillar leads/Senior Leadership Team members
- Any relevant reporting being generated by the Reporting Lead in respect of operations within scope
- Control issues and persistent operating problems which have been escalated through the Failsafe process
- The operational knowledge of the delivery leads/delivery tower leads and their teams

The post holder will therefore need to manage these competing priorities in order to shape a performance improvement agenda for the Head of Finance Services which they will then be accountable for delivering.

The post holder will be responsible for:

- Curating the program of improvement areas by building consensus across the SLT and the delivery leads
- Identifying areas for improvement, both acknowledged areas of existing weakness and as-yet unidentified areas which would benefit from process improvement
- Determining objectives, setting priorities and managing the iterative development and continuous improvement process
- Gathering and documenting business requirements
- Driving control improvements and waste elimination initiatives
- Ensuring that the roadmap and pipeline remain healthy and full
- Setting the rhythm for improvement workshops, process improvement actions, reporting and governance of the improvement portfolio
- Owning the root cause analysis program
- Maintaining reporting against business cases and tracking benefits arising from changes

The post holder will be responsible for the management and personal development of a team.

As part of the wider Finance Services team, the post holder will need to contribute to the success of that team by:

- Adhering to UK and group accounting policies and procedures
- Assisting, where required, on various projects relating to analysis, reporting, and process improvement
- Participating as required as a team member in other special projects
- Mentoring more junior team members
- Carrying out any other ad hoc duties, as and when required

In order to be considered for the role an accounting qualification or degree in accounting or a finance related field is preferred. Ideally you will have detailed understanding of COSO control frameworks, Sarbanes Oxley or other financial control environments.You will be able to anticipate control weaknesses in processes and propose mitigating controls that add commercial value to the organisation. You will have managed a portfolio of projects and initiatives and delivering or reporting progress to meet the demandsof stakeholders and a governance group.
