Alder Hey Children’s Hospital cares for over 330,000 children, young people, and their families every year. In addition to our main hospital site, we offer paediatric services at a number of community sites and hold local clinics across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales, and the Isle of Man. We also provide specialist inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park Building in North Liverpool.

**What you’ll be responsible for**:

- Routinely extract pathology/histology/radiology information from IT systems to enhance the accuracy of coded data
- Work autonomously without direct instruction or supervision when self
- allocating work and achievement of daily coding targets. Assist the Clinical Coding Manager in achieving month end coding completion targets.
- Assist the Clinical Coding Team Manager to identify any complex issues in clinical information contained in the medical record and electronic systems that contradicts clinical coding guidelines.

**You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust**:
1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

**You’ll have the following skills/experience**:

- Excellent communication skills
- both verbal and written
- Microsoft office skills
- Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Previous NHS experience
- Clinical Coding Refresher Course (within the last 3 years)
- ACC Knowledge (desirable)
- Over 10 years’ experience within this area of expertise
- This role may require you to show evidence of your accreditation or at least 2 years relevant experience. _
