Job Summary

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Category Specialist on a 12-month fixed term contract to join our Sourcing team.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our MESM, Chorley site. You will have the opportunity to be part of the amazing Sourcing team. If you are looking for a role to provide procurement solutions to customer requirements

The team

Avantor’s Sourcing Team is part of a busy team of 12 supply chain professionals.

What we’re looking for
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Word and Excel experience is required
- Excellent team player
- Proficient in Excel and ERP systems
- CIPS qualification desirable but not essential
- 3 years + in a Category role
- Purchasing experience
- Excellent communication/presentation skills
- Analytical and adaptable
- Excellent attention to detail and high-quality focus
- Ability to work under pressure and strong problem-solving skills.

How you will thrive and create an impact
- You will provide procurement solutions to customer requirements, including recommendations on standard product items and alternative available products.
- You will expedite purchase orders; by request and based on achieving the best price/maintenance of appropriate stock levels
- You will manage and develop suppliers, including the implementation of specific supplier agreements.
- You will have a commercial understanding and analysis of market movements and pricing, including the negotiation of prices.
