Arden Multi-Academy Trust are seeking a **Clerk to Governors** on a permanent but flexible basis to support our Trust across its primary schools. The Clerk will provide a professional clerking service to each of our two schools’ Local Governing Body (LGB) and its committees. The Clerk will support the efficient and effective running of the school’s processes and ensure the local governance arrangements are appropriate and work effectively. They will work closely with and be supported by the Trust Governance Professional.

This role may suit someone who is semi-retired but looking to make a difference in their local community or someone who is looking for a part time flexible role. You may have PA experience or have worked in the legal or education field. You must have a passion for organisation and record keeping, be reliable, meticulous and enjoy working with people.

This is a part-time role; an average of 10 hours per week over 38 weeks per year which is term time only. This is an annualised contract. Meetings tend to start between 5.30pm and 7:00pm depending on the school, some flexibility around these times will be required. Outside of the meetings work will be conducted from home although the option to work from an office can be arranged.

The Clerk will be required to liaise with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors of Dorridge Primary and Coppice Academy in order to set an appropriate agenda which, together with the associated documents, need to be shared, in good time, with the relevant members of the Governing Body. They will then be required to take detailed, accurate minutes and get them typed up and shared within a week of the meeting, as well as maintaining the schools’ presence on GovernorHub and GIAS.

The Clerk will be required to attend a minimum of 26 meetings across the academic year, generally in the evening (weekdays and term time only).

Other than attendance at meetings, the role will be flexible and carried out at home, at times of the day to suit the Clerk, whilst ensuring agreed deadlines are met. The role is part-time, an average of 10 hours per week in the first instance with the potential to increase these hours as the Primary arm of the Trust grows.

To provide a professional clerking service to Governing bodies of two primary schools

Circulate agendas prior to meetings

To take detailed, accurate minutes of meetings, type them up and share them appropriately

Use of online systems - GovernorHub and GIAS to save information and ensure both systems are accurate

**Qualities required**:
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Highly organised, with strong planning and IT skills

Self-motivated and comfortable working across multiple sites and at home with mínimal supervision

Experience of clerking meetings and administrative duties, including minute taking and preparation of meetings

Able to use online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Proactive, flexible and supportive, be able to communicate clearly and build strong relationships and engage stakeholders

Some knowledge of school systems: structures, accountability and funding

GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English Grade C or above and be able to illustrate good literacy and numeracy skills.

Ability to travel between the primary schools within the Trust
