**_Hours: 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm, Monday - Friday (37 hours per week)_**

**_Salary: £19,579 - £21,476 + Great Benefits _**

**Caretaker’s Core Duties**
- To open and close the school and be responsible for general security
- To meet and attend to all contractors/visitors and keep a log of work
- To ensure all contractors comply with the safeguarding of children (DBS checks)
- To ensure that all legislative procedures are undertaken and recorded (Asbestos Register)
- To check in all goods and supplies and distribute them
- To monitor the heating, lighting, monitoring fuel usage and re-ordering where necessary
- To read all meters and maintain records including energy conservation matters
- To be responsible for the tidiness and maintenance of paths, grass, fencing, bedding areas, drives and other surfaces within the grounds
- To report all matters affecting Health & Safety and carry out risk assessments as required
- To repair and maintain furnishings and buildings
- To perform errands (i.e., take money to the bank)
- To maintain a diary / manual of repairs completed and to be carried out
- To carry out security and associated cleaning for building lettings as required
- To be responsible for the chair and furniture arrangements for all functions (assemblies, induction / training days, parents’ evenings, exams etc)
- To test the fire alarm systems and keep a log
- To check emergency lighting and batteries are in good working order
- To assist with decorating, plumbing and general handy-work
- To carry out litter patrols each day
- To replenish soap, towels, toilet paper to all lavatories on the site as necessary
- To be responsible for cleaning the dining hall, corridors, and lighting, which will require sweeping, moping, hoovering and operating cleaning machinery (training provided)
- To comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety, and COSSH statutory requirements
- To be a school first aider (training provided)

**Caretaker’s Skills Required**
- Experience as a Caretaker / Site Manager
- Experience and ability to carry out buildings & ground maintenance, decoration, cleaning, and repairs
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, COSHHH, and risk assessments - desirable
- Experience working in a school or further educational establishment - desirable
- Current DBS certification - beneficial
