As a key member of Freshfields’ global communications team, the senior executive will work closely with the internal communications manager to develop and implement firmwide internal communications - this includes senior leadership team communications, and regional and practice group communications as required. There is also increasing demand to build engagement on longer-term cultural and change initiatives, such as Diversity & Inclusion and firmwide environmental targets.

The communications team (external and internal) sits within the Marketing & Business Development (MBD) division. MBD is a dynamic and talented global team, operating in a fast-moving environment. Some shape the client strategy and create campaigns that lead our digital presence; others work with journalists, create high-profile events, develop compelling pitches, and research complex business issues. Together, we define the client experience and shape the perception of Freshfields around the globe.

Freshfields is a high-performance culture and while this role involves a large element of support and implementation, all team members are encouraged to proactively contribute to communications strategies and plans, as well as general idea generation. On a more regular basis, the senior executive will be expected to draft internal communications and announcements, develop and support the firm’s internal communications channels and activities, and provide communications counsel and support as needed on key initiatives or issues.

The Freshfields Global Centre provides both business and legal services to the firm. Our services are delivered in a way which supports the global nature of our firm and our clients, enables our fee earners to deliver exceptional service to our clients and to do that in a way which is efficient and effective.

**Function Overview**
MBD is a dynamic global team which includes business development specialists, research analysts, brand, marketing and communications experts. By working collaboratively, our team shapes the firm’s client strategy, completes analysis of complex business issues, targets opportunities, develops compelling proposals and creates content and marketing campaigns that lead our digital presence. Together, we define the client experience and shape the perception of Freshfields around the globe.

**Key responsibilities and deliverables**
- **Proactive communications development** - managing and implementing agreed communications plans for strategic areas of growth within the business; identifying themes and opportunities for additional employee engagement.
- **Aligning internal communications with other communications channels: working closely with external communications and social media teams to ensure that activity around announcements is co-ordinated and aligned**.
- **Strong writing skills**, as well as an understanding of the full communications toolset across a range of tactics, channels, and media.
- **Understanding and experience of developing internal communications tools** including Intranet management, SharePoint, Poppulo, Yammer etc.
- **Continuous improvement and monitoring** - regular reporting and audits on the efficacy of internal channels and considering the use of new and up-to-date communications techniques and approaches.
- **Experience working in an international context,** additional languages desirable.
- **Managing agency resources** as required.
