An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 technical instructor to join the Posture and Mobility Service. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our team.

The post holder will primarily provide practical support to the team and support registered Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist to facilitate the provision of wheelchairs and associated equipment to clients referred to Posture and mobility wheelchair service. The service covers a wide geographical area in north Wales, satellite working covers Wrexham, Flint-shire, Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd, Anglesey, Ceredigion and Powys and the Health, Social Services, Education and private establishments within these areas. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical, technical and administrative staff.

**The key objectives of the post are**:

- To support the Therapists in the assessment, organisation, implementation, and evaluation of therapy and multi-disciplinary team interventions.
- Be responsible for assessment of the client’s equipment needs to determine whether equipment is still required, if so safe for use, no longer needed or requires referral for new provision.
- To assess client’s wheelchair skills/techniques, carry out practice and training to encourage independence, including individual indoor/outdoor powered training sessions and testing in a varied environment for clients that have a powered wheelchair.
- Assist clients before, during and following review ensuring their safety, comfort, privacy and dignity.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
- PAMS Service - there are around 57 people in our team, working clinically with children and adults, and providing our essential administrative support. We are a friendly, supportive team, who between us have a lot of clinical experience - so there is always someone who will be able to support you and answer questions.
- BCUHB is managed in three operational geographical Areas - West, Centre and East. The Posture & Mobility Service is a pan BCU Service that covers all 3 areas and also covers part of Hywel Dda and Powys Health Boards. We are part of East Area Therapies Services, and we are accountable to the Assistant Area Director of Therapies (East).

- Demonstrate understanding that the geographical patch entails a higher than average amount of driving and requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate clients’ clinical needs.
- Obtain the correct level of informed consent from clients and discuss the implications of assessment and interventions.
- Manage own time and work to deadlines within time and resource constraints.
- Consider & decide the range of interventions that are feasible.
- Demonstrate consideration and understanding of professional boundaries.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify the biological, psychological, sociological and environmental needs/problems clients and carers may have due to their postural or mobility impairments that impact on their ability to achieve each of their identified occupational roles.
