**Legal Controls Assurance Lead**
**Glasgow**

As a Barclays Legal Controls Assurance Lead, you will have an exciting opportunity to be part of a new capability being developed in the Legal Function. You will have a key role in designing, creating and executing a workplan of assurance reviews to assess and report on the performance by the Legal Function of its role and responsibilities as set out in relevant policies, standards and procedures, including appropriate LRR (laws, rules and regulations) risk management.

**What will you be doing?**
- Designing and delivering the scope of reviews that provide solid insight and value by identifying risks and issues or examples of good practice
- Articulating root causes, outcomes, and consequences to support corrective actions or the fur-ther embedding of robust controls and processes
- Preparing robust action plans designed to materially and sustainably mitigate the risks identi-fied in the issues
- Monitoring and validating issues and actions and being fully accountable for working papers being completed timely and accurately, with clear and concise findings
- Managing assurance activities that identify risk/control/outcome deficiencies of the upmost relevance, providing valuable insights and informed opinions
- Aiding development and continual review of a Legal Controls Assurance annual review plan
- Utilising effective stakeholder management and leadership, including formal stakeholder en-gagement at all levels of the Legal Function
- Identifying and leveraging appropriate data sources and data analytical techniques to deliver targeted testing

**What we’re looking for**:

- Experience of working in an assurance role with the ability to display a working knowledge of risk and frameworks, assurance methodologies and testing techniques
- Excellent investigative skills with the capability to identify key risks and areas of non-conformance with regulatory and legislative requirements and lack of controls
- Excellent report writing skills
- Experience of discussing contentious observations with management and recommending necessary actions

**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Understanding of the bank’s regulatory environment and the key Laws, Rules and Regulation impacting the bank
- Assurance/Audit professional qualifications, or equivalent
- Undergraduate degree, or equivalent
- Experience representing an Assurance function/Director in Senior Fora; Working Groups; and working across the 3 Lines of Defence on testing plans and activities
