**More about the role of Secure Receptionist**

In your role as a Secure Receptionist, you will have a critical responsibility for ensuring the hospitals safety and security. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all visitors, staff, and patients upon their entry to the hospital. Your core duties will involve overseeing access, upholding both the physical and procedural security measures in place at the hospital, and providing exemplary customer service to uphold the hospital's reputation for delivering quality care and service.

Your role is instrumental in maintaining a secure, welcoming, and well-organised environment at the front of the hospital, ensuring the comfort and safety of all individuals who enter.

The shift patterns will be 4 days on, 4 days off.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To diligently perform all responsibilities associated with the position in strict accordance with the guidelines outlined in the Security Operational Manual, while also actively contributing as a valuable member of the security team.
- To deliver exemplary customer care services that embody the organisation's values, fostering a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff, and ensuring ongoing effective customer service.
- To uphold the responsibility of verifying the identity of individuals seeking access to or egress from the unit, while also managing the Reception Desk and the airlock system to ensure the continuous security of the hospital.
- To provide clear instructions to all visitors regarding restricted/banned items that are not allowed before they enter the airlock or secure area, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- To ensure that that both staff and visitors adhere to the requirement of depositing restricted/banned items in designated lockers before entering the unit.
- To ensure that staff members entering the secure area are issued with the appropriate security equipment as per established protocols to ensure their safety
- To ensure that all secure and non-secure keys, panic alarms and radios are accounted for, monitored and audited.
- To strictly adhere to security protocols to prevent unauthorised access and security breaches, and to take immediate action to escalate any security breaches that may occur.
- To notify the relevant ward or personnel of visitor arrivals and, when necessary, provide assistance in guiding them to the appropriate areas.
- To take responsibility of switchboard duties, professionally and courteously handling incoming internal and external phone calls, and efficiently redirecting them to the respective departments or individuals
- To uphold a professional and inviting reception area for all individuals, including staff, patients, and the public, while actively assisting in the distribution of information through resources like welcome/information packs.
- To employ communication equipment effectively and consistently adhere to hospital communication protocols to ensure efficient and secure information exchange within the hospital.
- To diligently monitor CCTV cameras to maintain the safety and security of the premises, promptly responding and escalating any suspicious activities or incidents as per established protocols.
- To be composed and efficient when responding to emergency situations and alarm activations, swiftly taking appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals while following established emergency response protocols.
- To contribute to administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, scanning, and the management of incoming and outgoing mail, while also actively collaborating with other administrative staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- To verify that handcuffs are issued exclusively to authorised personnel and ensure that proper paperwork is consistently completed upon issue and return, maintaining a meticulous record-keeping system for accountability and security.
- To maintain the readiness of all panic alarms and radios by ensuring they are consistently charged and conducting routine audits of functionality to ensure operational reliability.
- To ensure the reception of drug deliveries from the pharmacy via courier, acknowledgment of receipt through signature, and the thorough documentation of any items, maintaining records of all incoming deliveries to ensure accountability.
