Serco have an exciting new role as a Receptionist at the EPC College based in York. You'll provide a proactive, friendly and courteous reception service to all employees and visitors at the Emergency Planning College, The Hawkhills. The role will also ensure that the reception area is maintained to a high standard of customer care, cleanliness and always promoting a professional image.

Please note - Reception works on a 24/7 basis, morning shift 7:00 – 14:30, late shift 14:00 – 21:30. Security provide cover from 21:00 – 07:00. Will include some weekend working on a rota basis.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Greet all visitors on arrival at the site, responding to any queries and providing information as required
  • Update information boards and visitor information, ensuring it is commensurate to training activity
  • Operate the barrier and monitor the CCTV
  • Operate the switchboard, answering external calls within 4 rings
  • Co-ordination of visits, ensuring all delegates are booked in and collected from reception
  • Organise and co-ordinate meetings, conferences, accommodation and make travel arrangements as required
  • Provide administrative support to the Training Team as appropriate, to include reprographics
  • Respond to a range of correspondence, taking the initiative to research information for replies where appropriate both internally and externally
  • Liaise with Security to ensure fully aware of any issues that may have happened during the night shift
  • Order and maintain an appropriate stationery stock
  • Overnight accommodation allocation and distribute room keys as appropriate
  • Order taxis for employees and visitors

What you'll need to do the role:

  • Ability to operate in a flexible, organised, consistent and committed manner
  • Capable of working calmly and accurately under pressure to strict deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and a confident approach to personal communications and the maintenance of discretion and confidentiality
