**Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Support Analyst** who has a thorough working knowledge of supporting, troubleshooting and installing computer Hardware and Software within an IBM Unix environment to work as part of a team to effectively implement stable and secure IT systems for a leading manufacturing businessbased in Leyland, Lancashire, North West England.

**SALARY**:£40,000 to £50,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits (See Below)

**JOB OVERVIEW**

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Support Analystwho has a thorough working knowledge of supporting, troubleshooting and installing computer Hardware and Software within an IBM Unix environment towork as part of a team to effectively implement stable and secure IT systems.

The department operates with approximately 25 experienced staff that are crucial to the success of their team, the department, and the business. Within this, the IT infrastructure team comprises of 7 multiskilled staff who are responsible for the implementationand support of robust, mission critical systems based on industry standard technologies from suppliers such as Dell, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft, and VMWare. The department is also part of a European and Global group, providing wider potential future opportunitiesfor growth and development.

Working as the Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Support Analyst you will have excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills whilst being flexible, self-motivated and able to manage own workload and priorities.

As the Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Support Analyst you will need to have thorough knowledge of Hardware and Software within an IBM Unix environment.

**DUTIES**

Your duties as a Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Support Analyst will include:

- As part of a team, provide 1st line support to end users relating to computer hardware / software
- Testing and implementation of new/upgraded user facing technology across site
- Documentation of local IT processes/procedures in line with corporate policies
- Management and support (Hardware / Software) of Unix Server / SAN infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with global policies, maintaining HW/SW to approved versions
- Work with internal customers and external suppliers to facilitate introduction of HW/SW ensuring alignment with company standards
- Manage upgrades to local systems in alignment with business / IT projects

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**

**Essential**
- Degree educated
- Thorough knowledge of computer HW and SW within an IBM Unix environment
- Extensive experience in an IT Infrastructure role, working within a production environment
- Significant experience in maintaining IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux Operating Systems
- Significant experience in managing SAN environments
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Flexible, self-motivated, able to manage own workload and priorities

**Desirable**
- Knowledge of Korn shell scripting
- Knowledge of NIM
- Knowledge of Replication technology
- Knowledge of Remote backup technology
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and Firewalls
- Knowledge of Cisco Networking principles
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Management Framework
- Knowledge of Systems Automation Technologies
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology
