National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate several HVDC interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK. As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we can meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.

**About The Role**:
**Are you a strategic Business Partner with a passion for net zero?**

As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will support, challenge, and drive the strategic and financial decisions and priorities of the interconnector businesses and future business development opportunities. The role includes Finance Director responsibilities for Joint Venture Boards and Steering Committee attendance with our European partners.

You will have a team of senior finance business partners reporting directly to you, and interface closely with other finance teams in addition to business teams. You will have a passion for the energy transition and energy markets, and comfortable with regulatory concepts and processes.

**Key Accountabilities**:
**As part of this critical role your accountabilities will include**:

- Actively contributing and shaping the finance and non-finance related strategy, priorities and decision making across a variety of internal and external stakeholders to align to shareholder and regulatory expectations
- Performance management of key financial metrics and value drivers, manage financial risks and identify steps to mitigate or close performance gaps
- Leading the long-term business & financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to drive performance
- Being accountable for investment appraisal and regulatory submissions
- Presenting financial results linking through to business or commercial value drivers
- Developing and managing an initiative-taking, capable, and resourced team, driving a performance management culture that delivers value through employee engagement
- Supporting the implementation of continuous improvement and performance excellence activities, consistently achieving strong results

**About You**:

- The ability to influence and impact the decisions and financial performance of senior stakeholders and their teams throughout the relevant business area internally and externally
- Strong commercial skills
- Good strategic outlook; Joins the dots between long term strategy and financial performance, whilst dealing with ambiguity
- Experience in financial analysis and investment appraisal, with history of successful delivery
- Expert in planning, forecasting, and budgeting
- Demonstrated Business Partner experience to function as a trusted advisor using strategic insight to deliver tangible performance improvements
- Strong understanding of how value is generated and of operating within a regulated business environment
- Recognised Accounting Qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
