Summary As our Welcome & Service Assistant, you will be play a core part in providing fantastic customer service and a memorable welcome for our visitors. You will be responsible for keeping track of our guided tours, allocating 'walk-up' visitors and helping toset the scene for them. You'll be liaising with our volunteers and working alongside the Senior Collections and House Officer and Collections Volunteers to ensure the smooth and seamless running of the site.

**Contract**: This role is a regular paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needsof the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

**Working pattern: **Ideally, you'll be expected to work 5 days and 7 hours per day but can vary slightly. This can be discussed at interview. Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays is essential.

What it's like to work here At Finch Foundry we create a doorway to Dartmoor's industrial past, welcoming people into the last working water powered forge in England and telling the stories of the people who lived and worked in the small but influential village of Sticklepath.

The visitor welcome area is an essential hub of the property, administering guided tours and is the first contact many of our visitors will have when the arrive here

What you'll be doing You will need a good working knowledge of the area and be willing to assist where you can. There will always be backup from other members of staff and volunteers for complex enquiries, between us we can answer some of the most questions people have fromwhat are the best walks to how does the water get up to the launder.

As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent serviceto all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to linkeverything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.

You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.

- flexible and adaptable and willing to grow experience and skillset across several different operation aspects of the property
- Skilled listener with great people skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Well organised and able to work with minimum supervision
