Harlow, United Kingdom Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An opportunity has arisen for a qualifiedClinical Associate in Psychology(CAP) to join the18-25s Specialist Psychology Service. This post isbased at the Derwent Centre, Harlow, however the service covers a large geographical area of North West Essex and travel to other locations will be required.

Clinical Associates in Psychology fill an identified skills gap between assistant psychologists and qualified psychologists. They are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist.

The post holder will work alongside a qualified Psychologist, together with the wider network of Primary Care and MDT colleagues to provide a high quality Psychology service to service users. This will require the development and provision of a psychoeducational programme, assisting young adults in the transition from CAMHS to their management within Primary Care, and ensuring monitoring and evaluation of this. The post will include some individual work. The service is responsible for ensuring early intervention through collaborative working with Primary Care colleagues, employment, education and other system partners, supporting early diagnosis and management of young adults, including those who may go on to be diagnosed with a Personality Disorder.

The 18-25s Psychology Service has been developed to addresses a gap in current service provision providing a specialist psychology service to young adults. Our service users present with needs that are too complex to be met by Primary Care, but not so complex that would require involvement of the Secondary Care Mental Health Teams. The service has been highly valued by our young adults’ service users who have been providing very positive feedback on high level of impact the support they have received has had on their lives. Post holder will be working alongside another qualified Psychologist, two Clinical Associates in Psychology apprentices, and an Assistant Psychologist, and closely liaising with the wider network of Primary Care and MDT colleagues.

The successful applicant will join our professional and friendly team of psychologists and psychological therapists working in Adult Community Mental Health Services in the North-West Essex area of Essex Partnership University Trust. The services cover a broad geographical area with bases in: Loughton, Harlow and Uttlesford. Within the service, psychologists have specialist skills and training in variety of areas and approaches, including Autism Spectrum Conditions, CAT, CBT, CBTp, DBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Trauma -Informed approaches.
