The Fen Rivers Academy provides a safe, nurturing environment for 5-16 year old students who have been unable to sustain a place in mainstream education. By prioritising academic achievement and introducing behaviour interventions and therapeutic support where necessary, we enable them to re-integrate at the same key stage as their peers and go on to access opportunities in employment and further education.

The Catch22 Multi Academies Trust is the vehicle for our sponsorship of an expanding number of academies focusing on learners who can benefit from small, supportive alternative education provision.

**Job Description**:
Do you have expertise in working with young people with complex needs and behavioural difficulties? Do you believe that all young people can learn, regardless of their life situation? Do you want to be a part of a team that is leading the way in King's Lynn, by changing the futures of excluded and marginalised young people?

You will be working with students who have been unable to sustain a place in mainstream education, including those with complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs. You will be advocating for our most vulnerable learners, specialising in support of children looked after and previously looked after while inspiring them to learn and achieve.

**You day-to-day responsibilities will be**:

- Providing Duty support for staff and students within the Academy.
- Supporting staff in the completion of behaviour management (SPINE) plans and Risk Assessments.
- Recording data for behaviour including physical interventions/exclusions/ duty calls.
- Supporting staff in developing personalised strategies for individual students as necessary.
- Organising and delivering 1:1 and small group targeted support, advice, guidance, practical help.

**Qualifications**:
A relevant professional qualification (NVQ level 2) in working with young people, e.g. teaching, youth and community work, social work, counselling, mentoring.

Level 2 English and Maths.

**Experience**:

- Extensive behaviour management experience with students who have complex needs and extreme behaviour.
- Building sustainable relationships with young people and their families, both formally and informally.
- Assessing family situations and needs to develop and implement effective strategies, risk assessments and individual educational/learning support plans.
- Working with a range of issues affecting young people and their families, such as substance misuse, domestic violence, multiple exclusions, offending behaviour.
- Managing complex cases ranging from level 2-4 on the continuum of need.

You’ll need a proven understanding of social inclusion, behavioural management techniques, influences on children and young people, and theories relating to childcare and child development.

Additional Information
**Salary**: £23,000 FTE per annum (£19,512 pro rata)

**Contract**:37 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year), fixed term maternity cover.

Fixed term period of 6 months with possibility of extension or permanent contract.
