The post is flexible and will be a joint site job at LUHFT. The department offers a wide breadth of both diagnostic and therapeutic services and has 3 gamma cameras a PET/CT scanner and a bone densitometer

Applicants must be fully registered, with license to practice, with the General Medical Council, and be on or eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register, or be within six months of this at time of interview. Job to commence as soon as possible.

Good communication skills, the ability to work as a team member and offer high standard of clinical opinion are an essential requirement. Participation in the Trust Consultant appraisal system and Royal College of Radiology CPD/CME programme are expected.

The Nuclear Medicine Department is one of the largest in the country and offers an extensive Nuclear Medicine service including diagnostic imaging, PET/CT, radionuclide therapy and bone mineral densitometry. The department supports numerous MDTs and is a founder member of the Neuroendocrine MDT which has European Neuroendocrine Tumour Centre of Excellence status.

The PET/CT is part of the National Contract and also has an expanding non-contract component.

The 10 PA contract comprises 8.5 DCC sessions and 1.5 SPA sessions. Future commitments requiring additional SPA time would be achievable. Cross site working at Aintree and Royal will form part of contract as per Trust policy.

To encourage more flexible patterns of working, there is the possibility of working one day from home each week.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

To take part in the regular outpatient clinics assessing, treating and reviewing patients with Thyroid Cancer, Thyrotoxicosis and Neuroendocrine Tumours.

To prepare for and lead on discussions in appropriate MDTMs.

Undergraduate medical and dental students as part of their curriculum.

There are trainees attached to the Nuclear Medicine Department on a rotational basis. All trainees are part of the Merger of Liverpool and Manchester Radiology Schools now known as Health Education England North West (HEENW).
