ATrust Doctor at ST3+ level is required to work within the department of Acute Medicine at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.

The post is predominantly based in our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) but also offers excellent experience in all aspects of acute medicine including working on our Acute Medical Unit. We see a wide range of conditions offering great exposure to Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Care of the Elderly and Stroke, with excellent in reach from the afore mentioned specialties. There will also be the opportunity to have one day a week outside of acute medicine to pursue other areas of interest such as research or QI.

The posts is suitable for anyone who has full MRCP and appropriate experience working in a general medical speciality at registrar level. It would also be preferable for applicants to be fully independent in procedures such as lumbar puncture, pleural aspiration, ultra-sounded cannulation and ascitic drains.

On calls and weekend work can be offered if desired but not stipulated as part of post.

The postholder will be predominantly based at one of our SDEC areas in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or Cheltenham General Hospital. They will be expected to be confident in assessing, investigating and managing patents at the level of a senior decision maker but will always have consultant support when needed. They will also be expected to provide support and advice to junior clinicians.

Our Acute medical units are supported by F1, F2, ACCS, GPST, PA and SpR posts

Gloucestershire Royal Hospital provides general hospital services predominantly to people living in the west of the county. Some services such as renal and haemodialysis, inpatient paediatrics, paediatric oncology, inpatient neurology, rheumatology, dermatology and ENT are provided for the whole county.

Cheltenham General Hospital provides general hospital services predominantly to people living in the east of the county and parts of south Worcestershire. Some services, such as ophthalmology are provided for the whole county. The Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital is the hub of the Three Counties Cancer Network being a centre of excellence for Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and parts of Wales.

DUTIES OF POST

The postholder will be predominantly based at one of our SDEC areas in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or Cheltenham General Hospital. They

MAIN CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

You are normally covered by NHS Hospital and Community Health Services indemnity against claims of Medical Negligence. However, in certain circumstances (especially in services for which you receive a separate fee) you may not be covered by the indemnity. You are therefore advised that you maintain membership of your Medical Defence organisation. Charges will be payable for services eg. Board, Residence etc. provided by the
