**Your new role**

National Highways is looking for a Head of Reporting to join our Major Projects Directorate, in the Regional Investment Programme (RIP) South division. This role can be based at our Bedford, Birmingham, Bristol or Guildford office and will be hybrid working with a mix of office and work from home days

The key focus of this role is to drive excellence in Project & Programme Reporting and Data Management through the development, delivery and maintenance of high-quality governance controls, management processes, tools, techniques and systems, the integration of Programme Information Systems and the enhancement of in-house capability.

**What you’ll be leading on**
- Develop and maintain strong, collaborative, working relationships with Programme Senior Leadership Team, PMO management team, and Programme delivery teams; to ensure a strong understanding of business needs, to ensure that the requirements for high quality reporting, data management and systems are fully understood and addressed at both Project and Programme level, to identify key areas for improvement, to share best practices and to resolve complex issues.
- Work closely with RIP PMO North on upkeep and enhancement of existing data systems.
- Provide expertise and guidance for Reporting, Data and Systems Management across the Programme, to develop capability and to support colleagues in delivering their objectives.
- Attend and support Reporting, Data Management and Systems Integration Communities of Practice across National Highways, to share best practices and support professional development.
- Identifying and proposing appropriate management interventions and improvement strategies at project & programme levels.

**To be successful you will need**
- Demonstrable experience of managing the Reporting & Data Management in a major multi-disciplinary civil infrastructure programme environment.
- Experience of leading process change and implementing performance improvement initiatives in people capability, reporting, data capture & analysis, systems and processes.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a complex, high value, programme environment, providing and driving strategic improvement plans and consistency of approach at programme and project levels.
- Track record of managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.
- High resilience, to deal constructively conflicting priorities and setbacks.

Major Projects is responsible for the delivery of nearly 70 projects with a total value more than £14 billion, and some of the most exciting and challenging projects in the country. National Highway’s goal is to change the industry: to make roads and their construction and maintenance safer; to be more responsive to the needs of our customers, particularly about biodiversity and carbon; and to exploit the digital agenda and drive the productivity agenda to improve delivery.

In RIP we are responsible for the development and delivery of junction improvements, bypasses, projects of National significance and major infrastructure projects. We deliver capital improvements that will help to grow the economy and deliver wider social benefits and improve infrastructure at the same time as ensuring we work to safeguard the environment for future generations in line with our Carbon and Environmental Strategy.
