**DOMESTIC SUPERVISOR**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
REPORTS TO:You will be based at the Senior School, directly responsible to the Estates Manager. You will work within the framework set by Operations and under the general direction of the Principal. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Domestic Supervisor

**General**:

- Maintain costs and records of all cleaning works undertaken
- Carry out checks to ensure that works are carried out to a satisfactory standard
- Create and maintain a schedule of regular domestic activities for Boarding
- Liaise with the cleaning team to inform schedule for Boarding cleaning
- Ensure that all properties are kept in a neat and tidy state at all times.
- Monitor facilities for wear and tear, and raise the necessary Freshdesk ticket to report
- Monitor facilities for damage by students or staff and raise the necessary report to the relevant Manager.
- Maintain safe and comfortable conditions within the facilities for all staff, students and visitors
- Manage the purchase of cleaning equipment and materials within prescribed budgets
- Manage the laundry service for the Boarding houses including boarders clothing, bedding and regular washing of any soft furnishing covers/curtains to schedule.
- Ensure school soft furnishings are well maintained through repair and laundry to schedule (or more regularly as required), working with the catering team for table covers and any catering linens (not work wear)
- Ensure the science laboratory coats and cloths are laundered to schedule, agreed with the Head of Science
- Maintain good working relationships across the school especially within the operations department
- Attend inset day training and undertake any additional training as required and applicable to the school or your role.
- Manage the cleaning and domestic requirements for summer schools leasing the school premises during the summer months. Ensuring bedrooms are turned over prior to the arrival of new guests and cleaning should be of a the expected high standard.

**Health & Safety**:

- Maintain safe and comfortable conditions for all staff, students and visitors
- Implement the Group’s Health and Safety policies
- Brief domestic staff on Health and Safety issues, including Boarding staff who may have domestic duties as part of their role
- Work with the medical team to assist with infection control including special measures in the event of contagious viruses within the school
- Maintain Safe working practices within the domestic department
- Download COSHH SDS sheets for all chemicals and ensure they are stored within the location of chemicals
- Identify the areas for improvements within the department in consultation with the Estates Manager
- Carry out regular risk assessments and document the same
- Advise the Maintenance Department in connection with any equipment that may pose a hazard, such as scaffolding, welding equipment, etc, used by in-house staff and contracted workforce
- Ensure that all equipment is safe to use and in good working order, laundry machines are to be regularly serviced and maintained in line with manufacturers instructions
- Keep up to date with Health and Safety legislation and Health and Safety Executive directives applicable to your operation
- During a Fire Evacuation, ensure all on site cleaning staff are accounted for and reported to the Incident Controller

**Security**
- Responsible for Unlocking and Locking the school at the directed times and for un-setting and setting the intruder alarm
- Ensure that requirements of the company security procedures are observed in relation to staff, students and premises
- Ensure the sign in protocols are adhered to by self and cleaners

**Personnel Administration/Recruitment**:

- Ensure that all statutory and legal regulations are observed
- Assist with orientation and school induction for cleaning staff
- Within own remit, ensure that all staff receive appropriate training, ensuring any gaps are identified and training is provided
- To ensure that all staff are smartly presented and wearing the correct uniform
- To report all absences and any other staff issues to the relevant departments

**Occasional Duties**:

- Assist with events hosted at the school for occasions described within the academic calendar
- Liaise with outside suppliers and agencies
- Any other Task as directed by the Estates Manager or Senior Management Team
- You will also be required to undertake additional duties during our Busy Summer School period, these additional duties will be notified to you prior to the commencement of the Summer School
