**Head of Finance**

B4RN is a rapidly expanding company providing fibre broadband to isolated communities in the UK. You will overview the financial tasks of B4RN and maintain day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of B4RN’s finances including accounting, financial reporting, and financial management. You will also facilitate effective operational and strategic financial planning, monitoring, and reporting and ensure B4RN complies with all statutory and regulatory obligations.

You will be responsible for bi-monthly Management accounts to the Board, with monthly reporting to the Senior Management Team (SMT), and a weekly cash-flow analysis and forecast to the Executive.

You will identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and other financial related problems and recommend corrective actions, and foster secure procedures to maintain confidential information and ensure maintenance of all financial records.

You will oversee contracted services and Service Level Agreements -including but not limited to HP agreements, and be responsible for official returns for HMRC and ONS

We expect you to provide clear leadership, promote and foster a team culture, develop overall goals for the finance department, assist in resource identification, work assignment, performance evaluation, and promotion decision activities. (staffing), as well as maintain confidentiality at all times.

You will need to demonstrate proven work experience as a Head of Finance, or similar role, and an accounting qualification such as CIMA/ACA or ACCA would be very important. You will also need experience crafting financial strategies and managing an accounting team, as well as an in-depth understanding of cash flow management, accounting principles, and bookkeeping, and hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management

You will also need an understanding of / experience of not-for-profit and withdrawable share systems and an excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models, as well as solid analytical and decision-making skills. A BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field is important, and an MSc/MBA or relevant certification (e.g. CFA/CPA) is a plus.

**Salary**: £50,000 to £60,000

- To overview financial tasks of B4RN and ensure beneficial use of capital and resources.
- To maintain day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of B4RN’s finances including accounting, financial reporting and financial management.
- To facilitate effective operational and strategic financial planning, monitoring and reporting to enhance the decision-making process of B4RN.
- To ensure B4RN complies with all statutory and regulatory obligations.**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

**Financial**:

- Produce and present bi-monthly Management accounts to the Board, with monthly reporting to the Senior Management Team (SMT).
- Provide a weekly cash-flow analysis and forecast to the Executive.
- Provide information to the external auditors for the annual audit.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and other financial related problems and recommend corrective actions.
- Act as bank signatory and make payments when required.
- Develop secure procedures to maintain confidential information and ensure maintenance of all financial records.
- Oversee contracted services and Service Level Agreements -including but not limited to HP agreements.
- Be responsible for official returns for HMRC and ONS including but not limited to the CT61 return and Section 887 return.
- Oversight of Loans - including timely interest and payments to lenders.

**Other**:

- Provide clear leadership, promote and foster a team culture.
- To work flexibly with other members of the team
- Provide training and guidance to finance and admin teams as needed.
- Develop overall goals for the finance department.
- Assist in resource identification, work assignment, performance evaluation, and promotion decision activities. (staffing)
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Contribute to the organisation of staff events, Open Days, and other B4RN events. These can sometimes take place outside usual office hours.
- To undertake other duties as required by the Chief Executive from time to time

**Requirements**:

- Proven work experience as a Head of Finance, or similar role
