**Background**

The Commercial & Digital Development Department (trading as V&A Enterprises Ltd) is the commercial arm of the V&A. Our business is to generate revenue, using the V&A brand, collections and exhibitions here in London and across the world. 100% of our profits are returned to the museum, helping to fund its programme and collections for the future. The famous V&A Shops are considered a benchmark in museum trading across the world, and set a standard to which others aspire.

**Purpose of job**

Working within an enthusiastic and motivated team, you will show a genuine passion for our museum and products. You will inspire our visitors and listen to their needs, whilst delivering exemplary customer service.**Main tasks**
- To deliver exemplary customer experience, setting the standard for the rest of the team to follow. Ensuring a customer first approach.
- Support Branch managers with staff Return-to-Work meetings, absence management logging and carry out 1:1 meetings.
- Assist with ½ year and annual performance review meetings. Raising any performance issues and / or concerns to Branch Managers in a timely manner.
- To be knowledgeable of our brand, what it is and why it matters and able to communicate this with confidence to our visitors, customers and team.
- To take responsibility for the daily operation of the business, lead the team by example, ensuring that the highest standards are always delivered.
- To assist the managers in the team training and coaching, creating operational strategies and clearly communicating the stores objectives to the team every day.
- Calmly, efficiently, and confidently handling financial transactions, exchanges and returns. Responsible for the cash process from dispensing floats to depositing takings, initiating till discrepancy investigations when required.
- To contribute and coordinate regular constructive feedback informing wider retail team about trends and customer behaviour.
- To create a positive work atmosphere and garner good working relationships with the team and visitors.
- To gain an understanding of all aspects of the museum and remain informed to optimise the visitor experience.
- Be committed to health and safety and ensure familiarity with all of the Museum's health and safety policies and procedures, report and/or escalate any concerns.
- Be security conscious, ensure familiarity and co-operation with all museum security procedures and ensure that all the team wear a security pass at all times when on museum premises. Report and/or escalate any security concerns.
- Promote equality and diversity in all aspects of your work by developing and maintaining positive working relationships, ensuring that colleagues are treated fairly and with respect/dignity and actively contributing to developments that support the museum’s strategy for widening access, inclusion and diversity.
- Carry out ad hoc duties as requested by appropriate managers within your department.
