Bookkeeper - Part Time

**Summary of Position**:
Unique Cottages provide over 500 quality holiday cottages, houses and apartments all across Scotland. Due to retirement, we are currently looking for someone to join our small but committed workforce in the position of Bookkeeper to assist in managing the accounting and bookkeeping requirements of the company. Working closely with our Accountant and Managing Director to deliver necessary information and documentation. Ensure that all financial systems are kept up to date. Providing reports as and when required.
- Reconcile bank statements against system reports.
- Operate accounts system (Xero), preparing and posting journal entries to ensure financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Prepare and print monthly Management Accounts Reports (with previous year’s figures included), Trial Balance Report and other reports as required for the Accountant and/or Directors.
- Make all relevant submissions to HMRC.
- Liaise with Office Manager regarding monthly staff hours, staff changes or pension changes.
- Process monthly payroll on Xero.
- Submit pension contributions & keeping the Managing Director abreast of any changes in the ‘Workplace Pensions’ requirements.
- Ensure all necessary regular backups are made.
- Scan, file, retrieve and refile records accurately and promptly where required.
- Understand and adhere to the company standards, policies and procedures
- Comply with all company policies, rules and procedures at all times
- Maintain confidentiality regarding the company’s business & employees
- Promote a positive company image by keeping a neat, clean and tidy appearance
- Undertake any additional duties as required in order to keep the office running smoothly
**Knowledge and Qualifications**
- Computer literate and able to use a variety of software packages (including ) to a high standard
- Strong bookkeeping skills and previous experience in a similar role

- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing.
- Be numerate, methodical and possess the ability to prioritize workloads
- A keen eye for detail
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks competently.
- A team player with a willingness to work as part of a close, friendly team.
- Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.

**Average 25 hours per month (starting from £20 per hour).**
