**Day to day responsibilities**:
The Buyer will be part of the Procurement Support Team and will ensure that requests from the business for goods and services are satisfied in accordance with Procurement policies and processes. The buyer will help drive departmental metrics and supportthe execution of category strategies. The Buyer will be expected to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers alike.
Ensure that requisitions and other ad-hoc requests from the business for Procurement Support are managed in accordance with agreed service levels
Get best value for the business through procurement sourcing processes whilst also prioritising lead time and other factors that are important to the business
Drive compliance to procurement policies and contribute to departmental KPI’s:
- Spend Under Control
- Spend Under Contract
- Retrospective Orders
- Spend on PO
- Preferred Suppliers and Programmes of Work
As a Buyer you will collaborate with Category Managers and support compliance with category strategies and to execute subcategory tendering activity when necessary to address category gaps
As a Buyer you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are understood and satisfied using the most appropriate transaction method considering risk and agility
You will also manage supplier performance and develop relationships to ensure that business requirements are met and support the maintenance of SAP Ariba and other Procurement systems as required
**Specific Skills**
Ability to interpret business requirements and create specifications to approach the market
Ability to create RFQ documents
Microsoft skills including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
SAP Ariba skills would be a distinct advantage
Strong analytical skillset, strong interpersonal skills - particularly in negotiating, ability to cope and remain calm under pressure and adapt to situations, able to work well in a team, with a creative mindset.
**Education and Experience**
A minimum of 3 years previous buying experience is desirable
MCIPS or some progress towards this status is desirable
