The position will need to provide professional and expert advice on pest control, including survey work, providing pest proofing advice and treatment where appropriate. The post will also involve dealing with stray dogs, including collecting and transporting stray dogs to our kennel, educating dog owners, enforcing legislation and working with other organisations in order to promote responsible dog ownership.

This is an area of work that can be as rewarding as it can be challenging, and you’ll have a chance to make a positive difference to people’s lives. Being able to work well with colleagues and members of the public will therefore be essential.

We are looking for applicants who are highly self-motivated and who can make a positive difference. You must be enthusiastic, effective, and be passionate about the delivery of excellent public sector services. You will be required to have the necessary skills to deal with challenging situations, be able to offer practical advice, be innovative in your approach to finding resolutions to cases and problem solve issues by working collaboratively with other officers/agencies.

The ability to travel within the County will be essential. You will be provided with a van for the role.

The successful applicant will be expected to form and maintain excellent working relationships with those in other Teams, and external partners.

You will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn in a fast changing environment and to develop awareness of relevant legislation, guidance and good practice in this area of work.

In addition to the salary, you will benefit from a flexible approach to working hours and locations (including home working) helping you to achieve a healthy work / life balance.

You will need a good level of conversational Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
