**Job Title**:Digital Public Contact - Subject Matter Expert**

**Salary: The starting salary is £57,301, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.**

**The salary is broken down as £54,460 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £66,356. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.**

Digital Public Contact has been established to provide a simple, well known and reliable digital contact service between the Public and the Police. The experience of contacting the police through digital channels will be as helpful, personal and reassuring as approaching an officer in the street.

Our mission is to develop capabilities, services, content and national standards that allow the Public to be informed, reassured and empowered in transacting, interacting and engaging with policing digitally. Single Online Home provides a nationally consistent, locally branded, web platform for all England and Wales forces on which the public can transact, interact and engage with police. It will improve service to the public as well as reducing demand on policing. It is currently fully live with 38+ forces. Single Online Home hosts a multitude of services including crime reporting, road traffic incident reporting, Domestic Abuse and Rape and Sexual Assault reporting.

The wider DPC programme is also responsible for the Police.uk platform, supports delivery of Insights and Analysis, and provides an integration hub for delivery of reports directly into force systems, NPCC Social Media strategy & delivery and services to support Children & Young People.

**THE ROLE**
- The DPC SME(s) will work within the SOH Services team taking the scope and priorities from the SOH/PUK Product Owner to support delivery and supporting change across policing and the DPC programme.
- This role will input policing policy and operational expertise working within the Digital Public Contact programme and assist DPC to understand, create, and evolve delivery for Single Online Home and PUK.
- Work within the operational policing landscape to provide a policing view and enable change within policing, challenging on an operational basis existing structures as necessary to drive a consistent national approach that achieves a high quality public customer experience. This work will be fed into the SOH/PUK Product Owner and wider DPC colleagues.
- Provide policing and change expertise within the DPC functions with a business and operational focus Nationwide to ensure that project objectives and outcomes are fully aligned to the needs of UK policing and the requirements of our customers of SOH.
- Ensure that through a detailed understanding of the wider policing Operational landscape, that relevant information is factored into the design and delivery of products delivered by DPC.

This will incorporate a range of responsibilities:

- Ensure relevant operational requirements are fed into the SOH/PUK Product Owner to ensure the setting and prioritising of user stories and epics, reflecting National requirements
- Build trusted effective relationships with stakeholders across UK policing, becoming Subject Matter Experts in the operational elements of digital products as they are designed, developed and delivered.
- Ensuring relevant information is factored in for forces that are not yet within the transitional period, or yet on boarded to the platform, but have relevant operational information that needs to be considered in the early stages of digital service design.
- Through operational expertise identify interdependencies for the Single Online Home project between police and other agencies, especially the College of Policing. Ensure these are understood in detail and fed into the Product Owner for feeding into wider SOH National Steering Group at the earliest opportunity.
- Reporting on identified risks and challenges to the appropriate Lead, in terms of service delivery of products in development to forces, and through early engagement and understanding of the current police landscape mitigate this.
- Working in conjunction with colleagues in the Digital Public Contact leadership team to help develop a coherent and unified narrative for policing about the vision for digital transformation and change through public contact.
- Work closely with the Transition teams to handover products and share knowledge on the current landscape of policing in terms of particular service products to influence continuous improvement.
- Develop excellent communication networks and knowledge within the operational police landscape, including agencies such as the NPCC, HMIC, and College of Policing to influence programme plans and strategies, supporting project deliverables.
