Monitor the effectiveness of care delivery and renegotiate the programmes of care where indicated to meet the womens needs. Utilise highly developed physical skills where appropriate. Effectively communicate complex and sensitive information. Competently receive sensitive information concerning women's care pathway and provide information using persuasive, reassuring skills as required, e.g., Breaking Bad news/special needs/dealing with anxious relatives. To liaise with the multidisciplinary team, coordinating and participating in case discussion as required. Agree the arrangements for communication with the woman/family/carers and document these in accordance with trust policy and the patients right to confidentiality.
Ensure that essential information on the patients condition and progress is recorded by self and team members appropriately according to the NMC guidelines. Inspire others and encourage them to seek advice and solutions to problems. Challenge others to take an active part in developing knowledge, ideas, and work practise. Embrace the public health agenda and support the delivery of local plans e.g., breastfeeding, smoking cessation, teenage pregnancy, midwifery led care.

Monitor progress of work recognising changing priorities and implement corrective actions within own limits and informing the relevant people Plan staff off-duty rota where appropriate.
Responsible for day-to-day supervision, allocation and co-ordination of clinically based teams making best use of their abilities. Lead a team whilst assuming responsibility and control of ward/unit management in absence of the ward/unit manager. Participate in the appraisal process for self and others. Identify, report, and address poor performance issues.
Diffuse challenging behavior, ensuring that the situation is managed in a sensitive way. Report any incident/complaints or accidents to the clinical lead and assist/support in the investigation and resolution of the same. Ensure good customer relationships are developed and maintained. Participate in the recruitment and selection process.
Participate in the identification of future workforce requirements. Assist in the process of implementing disciplinary and grievance procedures if required with support. Ensure efficient and effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit. Ensure patients valuables and belongings are documented and managed according to Trust policy.
Monitor, control, and store resources/supplies according to the requirements and specifications of the clinical environment. Identify any problems with resource use/availability and make recommendations for corrective action. Maintain accurate records of resource use Identify outcomes of evaluation and offer constructive views on how the service should change as a result. Evaluate with others the effectiveness of any changes and how these have improved services.
Lead in setting and maintaining optimal standards of care on the ward/unit. Evaluate the quality of own and others work and, where necessary, make the appropriate improvements. Re-evaluate following any change to ensure that improvements have been made. Recognise the importance of peoples rights and interpret them in a way that is consistent with Trust Procedures, policies, and legislation.
