We are looking for dedicated, compassionate individuals to volunteer in the role of Careers Advocate. The main purpose of this role is to engage with the community to promote careers in health and social care.

Location

These roles are based in Carlisle but may involve travel to Wigton, Brampton and Penrith on occasions.

What tasks can this role include?
- Carry out engagement activities with community groups
- Attend local Jobs Fairs
- Provide information to job seekers on the different pathways into health and social care roles
- Help people make informed choices and consider the full range of roles and professions available in health and social care
- Manage referrals from community groups or partner agencies
- Provide assistance at recruitment events

**Disclosure and Barring Service**:
On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

**The changes mean that**:

- the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

These bodies can advise you on what you are legally required to declare and may also be able to advise you on how you can disclose criminal record information to a prospective employer and your legal rights when doing so.

A Standard DBS check will be required for this volunteering post.

The DBS check is free of charge for volunteers.
