We are recruiting a qualified legal executive or equivalent, with experience in commercial contract, construction law or regulatory law, to support the UK Legal team.

The UK is on a journey to reach net zero by 2050. The energy sector plays a vital part in helping the country to make this transformational change but to deliver on this ambition we need people with talent, the drive, and the passion to help us achieve this ambition. Negotiating and drafting the connection agreements required to enable the construction of new infrastructure lies at the heart of realising this ambition. Additional support is needed in the UK Legal team to provide commercial and regulatory legal advice to the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) Customer Connections team and potentially other parts of NGET.

You will work closely with colleagues in the UK Legal team, alongside the NGET Customer Connections team to provide legal support on connection agreement drafting and negotiating, as well as responding to queries related to connection agreements and the associated regulatory framework. Such work may also include ad hoc regulatory advice. You will also work closely with counterparts in UK Legal and the business teams acting for National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) and potentially other Transmission Operators.

Alongside strong legal skills, although previous industry experience is not required, we are looking for an individual who is interested in the energy sector and the net-zero ambition and who has the drive to support and enable the business in its ambitions.

You will be a good communicator and problem solver, be able to listen effectively and advise a range of business and Legal colleagues within National Grid in relation to contractual terms and related issues.

**About you**:

- A qualified Legal Executive with experience of commercial or construction agreements or regulatory law.
- Have a professional qualification in legal practice with experience of commercial or construction agreements.
- A background of working in a regulated sector is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills
- Ability to work within a team environment, with a proactive attitude and ability to build strong relationships in a team or business environment
- No previous experience within the energy or utilities industry is required as training will be provided, although an interest in the sector is desired
