An exciting opportunity to join our innovative Occupational Therapy service working within our Renal, Urology, Oncology and Cardiac services?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be part of our team as an Advanced Occupational Therapy Assistant. With direction from Occupational Therapists, your role will support assessments, rehabilitation and discharge planning through a person-centred approach to enable independence and well-being. You will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge base and develop many skills in this excellent Trust and service. The department has a well-structured in-depth training program supporting the knowledge and skills framework and personal development plans. All staff are encouraged to engage in clinical development, with opportunities to participate in departmental audits or research projects.

This role will predominantly support the acute Renal & Urology Occupational Therapy Service, alongside attending the twice weekly cardiac outpatient rehabilitation clinic. The post also offers flexible support to the Oncology team as required.
- Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care for your patients.
- Manage your own time effectively and have excellent organisational skills.
- Maintain accountability to work unsupervised and within safe parameters at all times.
- Use of high quality interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively, empathetically and appropriately with patients and staff.
- To carry your own caseload of patients, as delegated to you by the occupational therapists.
- To prescribe, progress and develop rehab, wellbeing and activity programmes in order to meet patient goals.
- To be aware of risk and be able to manage clinical risk within own caseload at all times.
- Complete manual handling, including use of equipment and physical care for patients as needed.
- Microsoft and excel use for data collection and reporting.
- To engage with ward and team training to develop your skills and knowledge base.

Previous NHS experience is not essential; however experience in a caring role or working with people with stroke in or outside of work is desirable. We offer robust in-service training and individual personal development.

**Professional / Clinical responsibilities**:

- To carry own caseload of patients within a defined clinical area, which may include complex conditions, as delegated to by the occupational therapists.
- To be highly skilled and technically specialised within specific clinical area.
- To provide competent treatment to patients within set clinical protocols.
- To carry out assessment of patients as an autonomous practitioner, and to use clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence based practice to formulate appropriate care plan utilising a range of treatment skills and options
- To continually reassess patients in order to progress treatments effectively in order to meet patient goals
- To use own clinical judgement and knowledge in regards to progressing and/or modifying treatment programmes within agreed clinical protocols and parameters.
- To work unsupervised by an occupational therapist for majority of the time
- To be responsible for individual and group treatments as indicated.
- To evaluate and report all observations, patient responses and treatment outcomes to the referring occupational therapist, monitoring a
