**Ability to commute/relocate**: Office based role, must be able to reliably commute to Shepton Mallet or plan to relocating before starting work (required)

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Ensure correct and timely filing of customs and related declarations in accordance with the UK’s customs system.
- Make a key contribution to SGS eCustoms service, working with colleagues to ensure accuracy, compliance and customer satisfaction within the parameters of all relevant legislation.
- Support colleagues making declarations of imports, exports and transits to and from the UK.

**Key Accountabilities;**
- Make accurate and time efficient declarations.
- Ensuring accurate relay of information consistent with client profile, checking with client/colleagues when necessary to ensure compliance with relevant customs legislation
- Use SGS inhouse software, eGTA & TransitNet, to make declarations.
- Ensuring clients experience is of the highest customer excellence standards to achieve client retention, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Ensure knowledge of customs practices and standards are maintained inline with current legislation/regulation, through continuous professional development.

**Qualifications**:
Essential
- English Language and Mathematics GCSE Level or equivalent (grades A* to C)
- Education to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent.

Desirable
- Trade-related qualification (e.g: UK Customs Academy/BCC/BIFA)
- Recognized trade-related membership (e.g: Institute of Export)

**Experience**

Essential
- Experience of entering data sets in software systems.
- Demonstrable customer service experience
- Ability to understand, interpret and act upon customer requirements

Desirable
- Direct experience of international trade or a related industry such as freight forwarding or customs brokerage.
- Working within a standardized environment with a culture of continuous improvement.
- Comprehensive knowledge of SGS Connectivity & Products systems and processes
- Proficiency with working in a fast paced environment to multiple deadlines
- Knowledge of UK Customs practices
