**Service Improvement Specialist (Inside IR35)**

**Contract Term: Initially until 31/03/2023 with possible extension**

**Contracting Authority: Cabinet Office OVA**

**Location: Hybrid - London 2 to 3 days per month**

Background - The Office for Veterans’ Affairs (OVA), based in the Cabinet Office, was created in 2019 to lead the cross-government delivery of the Strategy for our Veterans, to develop future iterations of that strategy, and to provide leadership, advocacy and improved coordination of veterans’ issues across government. There are around 2 million veterans in the UK and 15,000 people leaving the Armed Forces every year. The government wants to ensure that every single veteran has the opportunity to move successfully into civilian life and can access the help they need to do so. The community of veterans and their families is diverse and varied in the support people need, with the work of the OVA spanning issues including housing, health and wellbeing, employment, diversity and inclusion, historical legacy issues, finance, criminal justice and societal recognition of the value of service in the Armed Forces.

**As a** **Service Improvement Specialist**, **your main responsibilities would be**:
The Minister for Veterans' Affairs would like the OVA to undertake system mapping of the Veteran landscape to understand the ecosystem and then focus on particular layers or systems, for example:

- Funding
- Influence of mental health
- Undertake a scoping exercise of the veteran homelessness pathways within the UK and then create a homelessness or housing pathway using new HMT funding.
- Top level system mapping of the veteran landscape
- Specific system mapping of particular layers / lenses as agreed by OVA
- Review the veteran homelesness / housing access across the UK
- Understand how new money to support homelesness / housing can be best spent
- Develop a homelessness / housing pathway for the UK

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:

- System mapping
- Local government authorities, Charity or Public Sector
- Problem solving
- Experience in managing Change communication
- Stakeholder Management- Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._
