We have an opportunity for Building Services Engineering Apprentice to join our Estates Management Team that maintains and develops a substantial estate at one of the country’s foremost Teaching Foundation Trusts.

This is a fixed term role for the duration of the apprenticeship and the assessment period. You will receive full training via the Level 2 Building Services Engineering installer Apprenticeship and must be committed to the training and willing to learn new skills.

Estates plays a crucial role in keeping our hospitals and services running. From essential power, heating, plumbing and mechanical systems, to the inside and outside of our buildings and grounds, Estates staff make sure these are safe and well-maintained for our patients, visitors, and other staff.

Our staff have a wide range of expertise and skills - from construction trades and technical skills, building and site management, surveying, and more. Together they carry out vital inspections, maintenance, and repairs across our sites, so that we can keep giving excellent care to our patients.

A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.

The Estates Directorate provide a comprehensive Estate Management Service to all the Trust’s properties.

Working as an Apprentice Building Services Engineer to develop knowledge and skills by assisting qualified mechanical craftsmen to provide a flexible, high quality responsive and comprehensive maintenance service as part of a multi-disciplinary team engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of equipment across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The apprentice is expected to work with other maintenance staff in a team. There is also a chance to work independently on smaller jobs as the apprentice progress through the programme.

Professionally the post holder will be expected to uphold the Trust’s PROUD values and behaviours and behave in a manner befitting the responsible position of the role and in the best interests of the patients we serve.
