Unqualified rate £24,987 per annum - Qualified rate £27,615 per annum (based on 40 hours per week) plus £60 sleep-in shift payment

**About the role**:
As a Care Worker at Vernon House, you will be an integral part of our team who put the **children** and **young people** at the heart of everything we do. You will provide a stimulating environment, conducive to the educational, personal and social development of the children as outlined on their education, health and care plans (EHCP). You will be a Key Worker for a child or small groups of children offering appropriate levels of support, guidance and care and you will maintain regular contact with the parents/carers of our children and young people, under the direction of senior staff.
**About you**:
Ideally, for this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working within a children’s home setting, is passionate about supporting young people and holds, or is working towards a **Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare **or equivalent. If you don’t have the experience or qualifications yet, but share our commitment to developing confident and capable young people and making a difference to their lives by meeting their educational, health and social care needs in structured, nurturing school and home provisions, we would love to hear from you. We will fund your level 3 qualification and provide the support you need to successfully achieve it. If you achieve it within 12 months, you’ll also get a £1000 bonus
**What qualities you should have, according to our young people**:
You need to be understanding because if someone is in crisis you can’t just ignore them or tell them they are wrong you should take the time to understand what is making feel this way. You should be funny too because why not You should understand that this is our home, and we are quite proud of the house, and you are expected to come in and treat it with respect.
You need to be nice and good at telling jokes, fun to be around and knows the area well. You also need to be a good listener to listen to the children’s needs.

**About us**:
Vernon House, part of Kedleston Group Limited, is an independent **children’s home** in **Poynton** for children and young people aged between the ages of 9 and 17 who may have experienced social, emotional and mental health needs. Vernon House is a home where children are helped to build resilience and where social inclusion is promoted; children are supported to be active in the local community and to enjoy and engage with educational and vocational activities. Our aim is to promote independence as well as supporting children in their rehabilitation and recovery.
