**Job summary**:
The post title of this role is: Joint Force Development (JFD) Senior Finance Business Partner (SFBP) Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) (JFD SFBP RCDS)

If successful you can choose your preferred location between Shrivenham and London.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the JFD Finance Team. This forward deployed SFBP role is responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective finance and secretariat function to Joint Force Development (JFD) Business units, primarily the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS).

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
This is a key position and offers an excellent opportunity for a self-driven and motivated individual to demonstrate and prove their skills and attributes by managing the financial arrangements for a unique BLB.

The role can be based at either Shrivenham or London, semi-regular travel between the two will be required.

**Person specification**:
Lead on monthly forecasting and accounting activities across areas of responsibility, ensuring all activities and outputs are forecast robustly to a most likely outcome with clear accompanying narrative and risk assessment prior to timely consolidation and submission to the JFD HLB.

Ensure that the principles of effective delegation are promoted and that all Budget Holders understand and are comfortable in exercising their delegations. Linked to this ensure business units understand your delegation and your formal none advocate role in the financial scrutiny process.

Promote a strong dialogue with budget holders ensuring they are supported through the provision of accurate and timely management information and effective Corporate Governance whilst providing prompt advice and guidance.

Develop a clear understanding of Business Areas financial risk profile and appetite, incorporating this into financial forecasts and plans in order to deliver outputs in accordance with control frameworks and business plans.

Lead on the annual ABC exercise ensuring timely accurate re-costing of local business planning assumptions linked clearly to overarching planning documents and submitted along with associated narrative commentary in accordance with published timeframes.

Provide financial and accounting support and assistance to internal change projects.

Undertake financial scrutiny of expenditure proposals ensuring vfm, propriety and regularity.

Liaise with other functional experts such as Commercial and HR and support on issues such as workforce planning and commercial management / contracting for your area.

Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with Colleges and Business units across JFD and UK Strategic Command, setting the standard and benchmark to achieve consistency, coherence, resource efficiency and situational awareness.
