**Job summary**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to become an inpatient phlebotomist to service the Queen Elizabeth hospital wards for their phlebotomy needs.

We are very keen to hear from individuals who fit the person specification for this post who can demonstrate the enthusiasm and skills for helping to maintain and elevate the standards of our service.

This service encompasses inpatient care with some cross working with the Outpatient Team.

The shifts required range from early morning to afternoon cover and involves weekend work.

Applicants must be highly motivated and flexible with very good communication skills and significant experience working in a health care setting. Experience in the field of venepuncture is desirable.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The post holder works as part of the department team under the supervision of Senior sister/charge nurse. The post holder will demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the senior phlebotomist in charge and in accordance with phlebotomy procedures, guidelines and policies. They will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent. The post holder will be in charge of carrying out the phlebotomy service in the wards and during the short fall, aid in the outpatients department.

**Essential**:

- Evidence of completion of a Health Related Education and Development programme/ Care Certificate
- GCSE or equivalent to Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Experience of recent working in an acute hospital / provider led healthcare environment as an Health Care Support Worker
- Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
- Experience of carrying out assigned duties after training and using initiative
- Competent in a range of clinical skills and practices relevant to the scope of practice required
- Understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues
- Has knowledge in relation to the parameters and scope of practice in which the post holder should work and when to seek advice and support of others
