**Position Purpose**
Processing of new parts, files, drawings, and requests relating to the manufacturing process. Ensuring they are received correctly, checked, and collated within the business planning systems, maintaining a live daily plan for the Machine Shop for each machine. The Machine Shop Scheduler will work closely with the Production Controllers and with the Machine Shop to determine the optimum sequence and machine selection to ensure a smooth flow of parts to our fabrication operations, with a sharp focus on meeting project deadlines and maintaining utilization targets, demonstrating the ability to be agile and make on the spot decisions to move parts between machines and adjust short term schedules to overcome challenges. The Machine Shop Scheduler will also inform and advise the inventory and procurement teams to ensure a constant flow of raw material and will be a key decision maker in selecting parts which may need to be subcontracted out.
In this role you will also be required to collate data for the reporting of production milestones, ensure material traceability processes are being observed, highlighting deficiencies or irregularities in the incoming production requests, striving to recommend improvements in processes or working practices, and always ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. In addition, the Machine Shop Scheduler will work closely with the Production Controllers and share/cover responsibilities across these functions as One Team.
**Main Outcomes of the Position**
- Ensure that all incoming production requests are acknowledged and processed into business planning systems.
- Ensure that relevant drawings and files are available for manufacturing.
- Maintain and sequence a live production schedule for each machine, which adequately services project deadlines and utilization targets.
- Ensure all urgent manufacturing requests and issues relating to parts are scheduled and/or accounted for in the scheduling systems.
- Ensure rework relating to parts is scheduled to achieve evolving project demands.
- Ensure that all manufacturing revisions relating to parts are processed and issued work is paused/scrapped where applicable. Drawings and supporting documents are updated promptly.
- Monitor raw material stock and demand closely to advise if shortages appear likely within the existing stock management systems.
**Key responsibilities**
- Ensuring incoming production requests are acknowledged promptly.
- Provide helpful feedback to improve the quality of incoming production requests.
- Engage with team members in each manufacturing area to ensure plans are as up to date as possible, promoting a good flow of information.
- In depth understanding of the Master Production Schedule to effectively support the delivery of projects.
- Ownership of the Machine Shop scheduling systems.
- Make decisions to subcontract parts when necessary.
- Provide a holistic viewpoint of the overall Machine Shop schedule to inform/make decisions about which machines are utilized in the manufacture of specific parts, finding creative and agile solutions to protect successful project delivery.
- Point of contact for team members to chase up on missing parts, quality issues, or timeline issues.
- Effective time management to ensure balance between short, mid, and longer term scheduling.
- Flag up production delays to the wider team to prompt and participate in discussions to mitigate the impact where necessary.
- Attend project meetings and action/communicate instructions.
- Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
**Salary**: £27,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
