The post holder will provide a comprehensive administration and audio typing service to the Stroke and Older Peoples Unit for 1 or 2 days per week and across the Medicine Directorate as required. The post holder will also be expected to organise own workload in order to maintain an efficient and professional service.
- Competent computer and audio-typing skills are essential and a cheerful, flexible approach to the workload is necessary. This is a busy role which will involve multi-tasking with ever-changing priorities. The post holder will be required to work across a number of Medical specialties to provide an additional administrative resource as required
The role requires you to have a current right to work in the UK, which enables you to undertake the role without need of sponsorship. Under current UK immigration rules this role is not eligible for sponsorship and it is not possible for the Trust to sponsor applicants for a visa for this role.
To assist the clinical team by providing a comprehensive secretarial
service, typing and distribution of documents and reports, recording
information and filing, ensuring that all information and documentation
is produced to expected standards of performance, and according to
agreed timescales.
To occasionally book Fast Track TIA clinic appointments by contacting patient by telephone and booking onto the Millennium system.
Update patient information/data when patients have been seen,
according to the agreed quality standard, locate and retrieve
supplementary documentation for patient information/data as required.
Maintain the case note tracking system, ensuring that is functioning
correctly, promptly solving and/or reporting difficulties and hold-ups.
To liaise with Nurses, Doctors and other members of the multi - disciplinary team to provide a quality service for the patients.
To occasionally answer telephone queries, taking and relaying messages in a polite and helpful manner, and using own judgement to establish the priority of issues and taking action as appropriate. To arrange patient appointments when necessary.
Establish and maintain effective communication, and confidentiality of
information.
Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures and guidelines,
taking action/alerting senior management team if practice appears to
contravene policy, or if concerned about any aspect of patient care.
Type clinic letters using the digital dictation system. A minimum of 45
wpm typing speed is essential for this part of the role.
To carry out other clerical duties as required; to work as part of a team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the post.
