**About the employer**:
Playsteps is an independent nursery which opened in 2006 and offers full and part time care for children from birth to five in a lovely setting, within walking distance of Swindon Town centre. Our attractive listed building used to be the vicarage for St Marks Church and, having been converted and specifically adapted for nursery use, it now provides a secure, light and happy environment for children and staff. We aim to be a “home from home” for your children and across the nursery we have a very settled and established staff team able to build long term positive relationships with the children and their families.

**Overview of Role**:
The purpose of this role is to ensure all children receive high quality care, are kept safe and are
provided with planned and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and
support all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

**Key Details**:

- Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- All Year Round (52 weeks)
- Wage: £.28 per hour, this will increase to £6.40 in April.
- The wage will automatically increase to the NMW for your age after the first 12 months.
- Location: THE HUB, CHURCH PLACE, SWINDON, SN1 5EH

**Apprenticeship Details**:

- Qualifications: Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard.
- Duration of course: 19 months
- Training Provider: LMP Education (Rated in top 10 of UK providers)
All learning delivered online/ remotely alongside role.

**Full Duties and Responsibilities**:
Detailed below are the principle tasks and activities associated with your role. The Head of
Early Years will be responsible for working with you to establish, maintain and monitor that the
activities and tasks are being performed to the school’s high standards and on-going to assist
you in your own personal development.
- Providing age and stage appropriate activities for individual children’s stages of development
- Providing a stimulating environment
- Supervising meals and sleep times
- Encouraging independence
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment inside and outside
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with our children and their families
- All aspects of being a key carer, including observations and assessments on Tapestry and having a good working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Supporting children with Special Educational Needs
- Undertaking Continuous professional development and attending all staff meetings
- Working in a team and supporting colleagues
- Having an excellent working knowledge of what to do if you have any concerns about the well-being of any of our children, families, staff or the wider community

**Apprenticeship Learning Summary**:
**Summary**:Early Years Educators, and other job roles such as Nursery Nurse and Childminders, are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. They work in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, pre schools.
- **Milestone 1. Keeping children safe in Education - **(KCSIE Policy, child protection, safeguarding awareness, serious case reviews, health, safety and wellbeing legislation)
- **Milestone 2. Working in Partnerships and Professional Development **- (Relationships and Role Modelling, EYFS Framework, working with Parents, carers and colleagues, School readiness)
- **Milestone 3. Health and Wellbeing **- (Healthy lifestyles, Physical Care Routines, exercise and physical development, food and nutrition, Emotional Wellbeing and supporting unwell children)
- **Milestone 4. The Value of Play in Early Learning **- (Enabling Environments, Theoretical and Philosophical Approaches to Play, Effective activity/ lesson planning).
- **Milestone 5. Promoting learning in the Developing Child** - (Learning theories, development of Language, speech, communication skills, Emergent Maths skills, how to support SEND)
- **Milestone 6. Prep for End Point Assessment**

**Qualifications Requirements**:

- GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills) English (Grade 4) essential
